Team Bahamas wins first match at the European Grand Prix Archery Tournament

LeRon Rolle won his first elimination match at a World Ranking Archery Event.

After shooting to a tie score in the 1/48 Elimination round, it all came down to a one-arrow shoot off with the winner advancing to the next round. LeRon had faced this very same challenge before when he shot the Pan American Qualifier in Santiago, Chile in November, 2022. He was eliminated when he came up one point short in the one-arrow shoot off. This time, he was determined to advance and dispatched his opponent, Kiril Taskov of Bulgaria, by shooting a perfect 10 narrowly beating Taskov's score of 9.

Tomorrow, he faces a much tougher task when he competes in the 1/24 Elimination round against the World's fourth-ranked archer, Nico Wiener (Austria), a former World Champion with many more years experience.

LeRon looks forward to the opportunity, having shot against Miguel Becerra (Mexico), another top-ranked archer, in his very first International tournament - the 2022 Puerto Rico Cup.

Regardless of the outcome of the April 6 match, LeRon is grateful for the opportunity to represent The Bahamas and compete against some of the best archers and coaches in the world. All of this is preparation for what he hopes will eventually lead to an opportunity to represent The Bahamas at the Olympics. Having fellow countryman Dovar Moultrie join Team Bahamas is also exciting for LeRon. Along with Alexio Brown and Steven Hanna Jr., Team Bahamas now has enough world class archers to form a Compound Men team increasing the chances of representing The Bahamas at the highest level in the sport of archery, according to the Bahamas Archery Federation.
