A PROUD HISTORY

  • Sir Durward Knowles took the bronze in the Melbourne Olympics of 1956, before going on to take gold in the Star class at Tokyo 1964 alongside Cecil Cooke. Knowles was knighted in 1996. In 1997, he was awarded The Bahamas’ Order of Merit.

  • Garry Davis stands proud as the results are given after taking part in the middleweight boxing qualification rounds.

  • Pauline Davis-Thompson took gold in the 4x100m relay at Sydney, and was also awarded a gold in the 200m following Marion Jones’ belated disqualification nine years later.

  • A brilliant gold for The Bahamas in the Women’s 4×100 metre final. The team was made up of Savatheda Fynes, Chandra Sturrup, Pauline Davis-Thompson, Debbie Ferguson and Eldece Clarke-Lewis.

  • Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace takes part in the 100m freestyle swimming competition.

  • The Bahamas took gold in the 4x400m relay race at London 2012. The team consisted of Chris Brown, Demetrius Pinder, Michael Mathieu and Ramon Miller.

  • Shanuae Miller-Uibo celebrates gold in the women’s 400m. She would also go on to take gold in the same event at Tokyo.

  • Steven Gardiner wins the men’s 400m in Tokyo 2021, as Shaunae Miller Uibo retains her crown.
