Sports in Paradise
The islands of The Bahamas are bundled over more than 100,000 square miles of land and sea to form a literal sporting paradise.
The nation is comprised of 700 islands and cays, but only about 30 islands are inhabited on a permanent basis. Generally, 16 islands are considered main islands, turning most locations in the country into idyllic, tranquil getaways. But on a few bustling islands, natural adrenalin powers a robust sporting culture.
The islands have been hosts to a variety of sporting events at the highest levels, including IAAF World Relays, Commonwealth Youth Games, and Junior World Judo Championships. Networks of world-class sports facilities make such engagements possible and wholly enjoyable.
After the heat of competition, countless diversions for relaxation and entertainment can be explored here.
